I was offered the deal, I had a look on the forums to see what other users where doing and they where mostly promoting themselves which seemed normal (ie Vodafone guy with Vodofone link), but nobody had links to places that they where working for. I then read the FUG and I pointed out to them that it was not really possible to do and it kind of stopped there for me.

Was going to use the money for a subscription to Geekzone too :(

They where offering $20 a month per user to have two links in the sigs. With that kind of money why didn't the buy some legit advertising space on the geekzone?

Oh an I'm a non geekzone adblocker, I even click on the odd ad too. I like the recent changes Mauricio has made to the sites load order and it's great how fast the content now loads.
People who block ad's must have tiny
data caps.

I wonder if it was anything to do with Brendan Battles the famous New Zealand spammer

YES Brendan you are a spammer no matter how much you want to argue with me about it on the phone and send me PMs on Geekzone.

John

We obviously don't have problems with people linking to their place of work, personal websites or even the odd referral link.

The problem is when companies decide to use this is an avenue for link spam, or referral links to pyramid schemes, and other illegal stuff.

Referral links: Quic Broadband (free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE) | Samsung | AliExpress | Wise | Sharesies
