Could you please give me a list of #[number] you received?

Hmm, I think they pointed to different posts now that you mention it, but either ways they weren't relevant at all - as in they would always point to a different post in the previous page. And this happens regardless of whether there was a new post or not. Unfortunately I don't have those mails as I've emptied my trash. Will keep a close eye the next time this happens and I'll post in here.

So I just got another reply alert. Now it's sort of clear what's happening. although I received the mail just now - 2:19PM - the mail is dated: Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 6:57 PM (3 days ago!) The link in the mail is:

So it appears somehow the reply alert mails have been queued up and the gz server is spewing them at random intervals..

Time on posts are wrong for me as well, but I am getting them only when posts are new, but when I click the link it doesn't show the new post and sometimes I need to click the link again. I suspect it's generating the link for the new post but the new post is taking a few seconds longer to get published... It's a new problem in the last fortnight as best I can tell.

The time in the email matches the time in the post. Once we send an email it's deleted from the queue. We currently have NO email waiting in the queue to be sent - our email server is quite fast.

This is something to do with your ISP proxy/transparent proxy, your network or your PC configuration.

It seems to be an issue with just those two topics. The reply alerts for this thread for instance seems to be working fine.

Ok. Blame your email server, or your email client then. I have turned off *ALL* of our emails out for the last 90 minutes.

Immediately after that I checked the queue and it was empty. Not a single email to be sent. And there's not a single email to your account in the queue at this moment.

If you have access to webmail, try using that to see if there's anything in your inbox that your email client is not downloading correctly, causing problems.

Hmmm. Mail forwarder. That's the problem. You should really have turned off the mail forwarder and looked at your mail provider's inbox. If nothing was showing up there then you would have spotted straight away the mail forwarder was a problem.

Perhaps the email inbox and the mail forwarder had a sync problem, or perhaps the mail forwarder lost some configuration.

If we send 50,000 emails a day and only one person complains of three or four days old emails showing up in his inbox, the most logical conclusion is something being wrong in the recipient side, not the sender side. Otherwise we'd would have a long thread here with a lot of people posting about it.
