Yes, we know that. Waiting until the end of the week for any changes, then will decide on postponing the event for Christchurch.

I might fly down to the Christchurch event and spend some of my money in the area.

Any spaces left?

UPDATE for CHRISTCHURCH:

Due to recent events in Christchurch we won't be able to run the event as planned.

I will start the process of refunding payments and won't be accepting any more registrations.

Once we have a new date planned I will let everyone now.

The Auckland event remains as scheduled.

Thought about asking people who registered if they wanted to donate the registration to Red Cross or some other appeal fund?

But then again most of the people who registered would be directly affected by the earthquake.

Worth a thought tho?  And ask GZ'ers to match the funds or something?

I have problems with companies donating in that manner. If they collect $500 from people, and donate $500, they get the tax benefits of the donation, so really they should donate whatever $500+benefits is so they are not profiting on donations.

Same reason I would never give money to someone that promises to donate it to a charity. First, you are trusting that they will do so, and secondly they are still profiting from it.

Gutting, but a fair call Freitasm. Please do look at arranging it again in Christchurch once things settle down.

Ok, I just looked at where it was to be held.... errr yes, I doubt anything in that part of town is still standing.

Not that I will be heading back in to the CBD this year anyway.

Hey, @freitasm, keep my $10 and please put it either towards the next pizza evening, or donate it to the Earthquake appeal. I'm going to be too busy doing DR work for my CBD customers for the next wee while anyway to care about a refund... :)
