Is that 12 o'clock when it's dark outside or light outside?

There is no such time at 12pm, let alone 12am.

It is either 12 midnight or 12 noon.

From Wiki: "While computers and digital clocks display "12:00 a.m." and "12:00 p.m." these notations provide no clear and unambiguous way to distinguish between midnight and noon. It is actually improper to use "a.m." and "p.m." when referring to 12:00. The abbreviation a.m. stands for ante meridiem (or before the meridian) and p.m. stands for post meridiem (or after the meridian), with the meridian being 12:00. Because noon and midnight are neither after 12:00 nor before 12:00 but are 12:00, neither abbreviation is or possibly can be correct.[4] The length of the error is determined by the smallest unit of time: 12:00:01 p.m. would be correctly notated, as would even 12:00:00.00001 pm."

Oh for chrissake.

Who _doesnt_ know that 12pm = midday and 12am = midnight?

Plenty of places these terms are used without ambiguity.

Ever get the impression some people are argumentative for the sake of it?

If nothing else a quick google for '12pm 12am' will show you several results, some of which claim 'equal right' but many will also show what the accepted convention is.

Eyeroll....

Please note I have removed IPv6 AAAA records and removed the IPv6 stack configuration from our servers. This will be brought back later in the year.

I have reduced the TTL to 15 minutes now. DNS records will be updated again tomorrow 11:30am to point to a temporary server that will return 503 results only and the Geekzone server will be shutdown about 12pm for an offline backup.

I will join the Geekzone #irc channel at some stage to give updates. Also updates will be posted on my Twitter account (@freitasm) while this move is happening.

@Ben - Do you have IPv6 support in your core routing? Or is this not set up at all yet?

I actually found Geekzone loaded way faster over IPv6 than it did over IPv4, this could be with the way we cache webpages though, hopefully it comes back soon!

This isn't actually my area (I'm a developer, the data center and systems guys are in a different building). I know IPv6 being planned for, but I'm not sure if that means just organising routing or actually modifying/replacing gear.

As I said before... It's being worked on, and I agreed to wait since it's not a core part of Geekzone yet, based on the number of people accessing the site through IPv6 at the moment.

I am happy to way for them now.

It was a great afternoon, got to see the ICONZ datacentre again (haven't been there in ages) plus a full tour of the new Datacom datacentre in Albany. It really is a world class facility. We spent an hour seeing all the various systems there.
