freitasm: As I said before there is another discussion on this where I explain why.

Do you mean when you said
freitasm: Blame XSS flaws in browsers... Oh well. I will be adding something to compensate for it.
?

Because later in that thread I read
heavenly_wild: Good job guys, it is fixed with a new look!
, so assumed they were related and now fixed.  So unrelated and not "fixed"?

freitasm: But we have this function. Every time you come back to Geekzone all new threads and discussions with new replies are marked with .

Each individual forum is marked with the same  icon if there was any discussion within that has been updated.

This way you only have to follow the forums you want - better than visiting the frontpage only, and better than getting the single RSS feed.

Thanks Mauricio Smile

Yes, I know that, but it still means that you have to go into each forum one after the other to see what the topics of the NEW threads are...

It takes a lot longer than having the Topic of each NEW Thread shown in a nice table together with another cell in the table showing which Forum the Thread comes from.  That's the way almost every other forum does it.  Why can't it be done here as well?

Something like this to see new forum posts since your last login?

I might add the option to specify a date and time later as well.

Looks really good - so good in fact that I went digging for somewhere I could comment. Nice colour scheme and tab layout!

I can see how the words 'You have' could be a little hard to read there - perhaps Mauricio will include those words in the link to solve that one?

Everything else looks fine to me.

The issue was more the line above. "Search, Mobile software store and Geekzonemail" are tiny, and poor selection of colour (close together on colour wheel).  What works well is the rollover, as it increases the contrast and has white on a darker blue.  Also the typeface compounds the difficulty in reading. Luckily many of us read by recognition rather than having to read the actual letters.
Overall, I like the new look however not the Georgia typeface in titles/menus (esp when smaller than text on remainder of page)

Looks good to me.  Thanks for the very fast response Smile

There are a couple of extra minor improvements you could add if it's not too much trouble:

-  Some other sites have a little arrow beside the Last Poster's Name that takes you directly to that last post, without the need to scroll down the page.

-  I have also seen other sites where there is an icon to the left of the Thread Topic which changes according to whether you have posted in that thread or not.

freitasm: I might add the option to specify a date and time later as well.

I wouldn't worry about that.  All posts Since Last Visit is fine IMO.

Now we just need a link on the top menu bar somewhere which takes us directly to this wonderful new feature Smile

A small bug: I notice the 'last post' column currently showing the thread starters name rather than the last poster to that thread. Wink

Yeah, I just noticed that as well and was about to point it out.

If room could be found on each line for the Number of Replies it would also be helpful.  It helps in assessing whether a thread is going anywhere or not.

ther cleaner look is good although i would have been happier if the search box had been placed where the status box currently is, and the status box perhaps under, or to the right of, the username..... its a bit unintuitive as it currently stands and its a pain having to sroll down to find the search box (perhaps why we get so many questions posted that are repeats of the previous days questions?)

Regs, great point, I would agree to that.
Then we could probably do away with left column. ;-) There is a menu at the top for News, that's enough

Just seen, on the unread posts page, does it handle multiple pages of posts??  I just did a refresh from overnight and only see one page, where I would have expected there would have been multiple pages of posts...  I could be wrong though.

Yes, it handle multi-page. It could just be that this is the number of discussions with activities since your last loging. Many replies to a single thread means just one line on that page anyway.

The idea is that people would update their status more than search. There's a seach box in every page and a link in the menu to the search page. Not hard to find.

As for the suggestion to get rid of the sidebar altogether, I can't. This is how a lot of people actually find other content on Geekzone.
