20 years for me next year! Amazing...
20 years ago I was still mourning the loss of BBS and forums were the way to go...
These days, seems everytime I research something I get sent to a YouTube video - which is not always the best way at all..

I am not a huge poster, but have lurked around on and off over the years.... Geekzone is a rare and valuable resource and long may it continue.

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

Congratulations Mauricio and Geekzone.

It will be 18 years for me in June this year. Looks like I came here looking for help getting my Nokia 6255 and Palm T3 to communicate with each other. Both of which are still lying around here somewhere.

The number of topics of interest have sure exploded since then.

Congratulations Mauricio. There has been no better IT resource in NZ and I can't begin to count the number of times this site has saved my butt at work over the years. Being a moderator here is still the best thing on my Linkedin 😂 I'm very proud of this place and the quality of conversation here. There's very diverse opinions shared here, but more often than not the discourse is respectful and ideas are debated more than personalities. Here's to 20 more years of Geekzone, and many more years of Mauricio despite the health!

Congratulations, Mauricio! You had the Genius Initiative to start Geekzone, and it has continued to provide my daily dose of reason and sanity for the last 12 years or so. So many social media sites seem to attract people who wallow in nonsense and verbiage! But not Geekzone! Your correspondents are invariably blessed with knowledge and common sense, and, to my mind, that makes Geekzone unique!

Don't forget the moderation. That has everything to do with keeping things from spinning out of control.

I know I'm not around much any more, but thank you SO much @frietasm for founding and curating such an excellent source of tech discussion.

I've really appreciated all the help and guidance I've received here, even for my really basic questions.

It has been an honour to have been part of the mod team and I really appreciate the excellent bunch of people who are or have been involved.

Congratulations for achieving such a milestone - it is not often done in this ephemeral age!

Best wishes to all!

<- don't ask me where I am - I haven't a clue: its a tech thing ;)

Congratulations Mauricio, you have created an awesome resource of information and people. You have enabled a wonderful community to establish, a bit like raising a family. I've only been here for 18 of those years, I don't know why I didn't join sooner. In that time, so many other communities have started, grown, and fizzled out. Thanks to all the moderators and sponsors, past and present. What an exciting time we live in, I often look around and feel like I am living in a SciFi novel. Change happens so fast and we need Geekzone, with so many SMEs, and passionate people, to understand where we are, where we are going and why. It would be interesting to look back over those 20 years and think of the technology we were using back then.

I would like to also thank you for your personal support of some of my projects, such as being a judge (and advisor) in some of my innovation campaigns. Your advice and critical thinking really made a difference.

I hope Geekzone has been and continues to be rewarding to you because you have dedicated and committed so much of your life to it.

Well done, and I hope Geekzone under your leadership continues for another 20 years.

If I was in a position to offer you more formal recognition, I would. I love it when people do what they do because of passion, and not for accolades. You have created something very special. Well done!

Thanks Mauricio. Geekzone is hands down the best online community on the planet. Rightly or wrongly, its become my number 1 goto place for all manner of issues. If your problem can't be solved here, it can't be solved anywhere!

I'm actually a refugee from another forum that since last year the mod has no issue with misinformation being posted - mostly of the coronavirus/vaccine/US election fraud variety, with a (IMO) very weak justification for allowing it.

In recent years the other place has become almost a ghost town whereas here is much more active (and interesting).

This is my go-to place now, and I'm happy here. Long may it continue! 🙂
