I'm the lame kid. Winning this processor will make me the cool one. Everybody will look up to me and my life will finally mean something.

I have just gotten married & have discovered that they cost alot.

This has resulted in the 4 year computer upgrade cycle being extended by 2 years (a long time saving).

Should I win it would allow me to upgrade the failing beast at home without having to spend so much on a complete new build & not annoy the new wife!

I would use the core i5 to build the ultimate media PC - the power one of those processors would supply would enable on the fly encoding and decoding and coupled with a reasonble (fanless) video card would handle HD display no problem.

As to why I need to build such a machine, WAF of course.

My mother has an old crappy HP branded PC.  I will build a machine with this Core i5 processor as the centre-piece for MY new PC (well, she doesn't need THAT much computing power!) and she can then have my current media PC allowing her to watch FreeviewHD and record all her favourite shows.  I would then pass her crappy HP machine onto my little niece so she can use it for Word, Excel and internet browsing for school.  Three birds with one stone!

I'm looking forward to one of these because I am going to start doing HDMI captures of videos I make and would love a quick processor to make the editing easier.

home peace is my goal
two almost teen kids with but one PC between
provides no peace at all
one i5 processor would surely provide a great base to build
a fantastic PC and return that much needed peace
my wife and I both wish for.

If I won, I would use my new i5 to run some complex algorithms to help solve world peace, resolve poverty in third world countries, and if I had any spare time left, find a cure for cancer.

Thank you for listening.

If I were to win the Intel i5 processor this would stimulate the economy…. because I’d need to upgrade my motherboard & RAM at the same time. Then my old graphics card would be the bottleneck so that would need updating too.

This would give me kick-arse hardware and would allow me to upgrade to Windows 7 and buy a TV tuner card to make my new Intel i5 PC the hub of my home entertainment. Given all the movies, TV, games, music & photos the i5 can handle, I would soon run out of disk space and need a couple of 1TB hard disk drives.

Who would think one Intel i5 processor could do so much for the economy!

This would be a great gift from me for my younger brother to have for his first Brand New PC that we will build together instead of the last two hand-me-downs that I have given him : )

Thanks!

My "server" is running a power hungry P4 CPU still, a i5 would let me be all eco cuddly and stuff with its power saving features that let it idle down when not needed. That and let me run more things on it that the old SDRAM based machine cant since I can only take it up to a gig.

I'd replace this 6-year-old chugmonster that's running the latest Ubuntu and has to be rebooted every couple of hours. I'm trying to work remotely here... :s

I'll put in a reply for my wife too - she is working on a project to set up hosting for small businesses to run open source e-commerce websites. Of the two of us, she's by far the most techno-savvy, so I would have to donate it to that cause!

It would be the excuse I have been looking for to build a new gaming desktop since my current one is rather dated.

Need to beef up the PC with a new processor so it can be up to speed in the gaming world. It will also allow for considerably faster video editing with Sony Vegas. I hope I win :P.
