Can you try it again please? I have just changed the Google AdSense banner from 728x90 to 468x60 and tried on a Virtual PC in all sizes from 640x800 through 1400x1500 and it was all good.

I tried it on my desktop with IE7, FF 1.5, Opera 8.5, and on an iMac on IE and Safari and all rendered fine now.

A side benefit for all of you guys: since yesterday Google News is listing posts in the Geekzone Blog in the Google News. In general a fronpage post on Geekzone shows up on Google News 10 minutes after it's live.

Dont know if anyone has asked already but it would be nice to have a different avatar for my blog as opposed to my forum posts.

There's a field in the database waiting for this feature. Part of the plans...

Maxthon uses the IE engine to render webpages. Thus the layout shouldn't change from using IE the browser.

I talked to Morbid1 about this when we met during the Office User Group meeting here in Wellington a couple of days ago. It's true, but I think the resolution and the fact that a leaderboard ad (now reduced to standard banner size) could influence on the screen area usage and find rendering results.

Ah, I have only used that browser shell a few times on a flatmates computer and he must have applied a crack to remove the ad.

Diverting the topic a bit. I noticed within the Blog preferences that there was a warning next to the google ads section (where you can add your own ID and have it shared). Its understandable as google doesn't allow you to click your own ads.

I understand that regarding ones own blog, but is clicking google ads in another persons blog or on the general geekzone site allowed?

We do not encourage and do not ask for anyone to do it.

Some people think that doing this will help site owners, but in fact it's a disservice: those ads are paid by sellers who expect an outcome - sale, subscription, or something else. By clicking an ad without the intention of buying something will actually cause the return value to be lesser, and causing the advertiser to shy away from this medium.

Also Google will notice repeated actions on these ads and discount them, so the publisher would not be paid anyway.

In other words better not.

I'm not saying I'm clicking every ad that appears but there is the odd occasion where there is one that sticks out.
Just wondering whether it was ok if I had a google adsense account if it was 'safe' to click on the odd ad on other peoples blog.

But thanks for clearing it up though :)

Since the domain where your AdSense account will be showing is this one, and someone else's will also be on this one, Google might think it's not ok - hence my opinion.
