I have a 2.4 GHz Celeron that needs to be retired, unfortunately the thing is bulletproof, bloody Intel CPUs don't die....

Would use the new I5 as part of my next upgrade. I'm having issues with random freezes etc so seems like a perfect way to upgrade to a new platform.

I bought my father a new SATA hard drive and PCI card for his birthday but it just didn't really work when I installed it on his PC with a new OS. He now wants to buy a new mobo, CPU and RAM but needs to save up for it first. If I win this CPU then we'll have 2 out of the 4 parts we need for his new PC!

I would love an Intel Core i5-750 to start off a new gaming pc especially for Battlefield Bad Company 2, my duel core AMD cpu doesn't seem up to it, a quad core like the i5 would be great. Thanks.

I sold everything and moved to Australia for a job that turned out to be crap, and now I'm moving home and have to start rebuilding. The worst, most gut-wrenching thing I had to sell was my HTPC. So I am determined to rebuild....stronger, faster, better than before. You have the technology, I need it.

Why would I like one?

Until I read the previous posts, and researched exactly how fast a Intel Core i5 processor is, I didnt know that I needed one.

Now that I realise that my 4 year old Dell 1.7Ghz Celeron notebook really doesnt cut the mustard, I should stop bragging about how good it is, or was, and join the rest of geekzone and upgrade.

Gosh, think of the speed, 4 cores instead of my 1. I could achieve 4 times as much, 4 times quicker! Think of the productivity improvements.
I see one major downside to building a PC if I win a i5 processor, it means eating less & drinking less coffee while waiting for internet explorer to open, or Adobe Photoshop to load!

Less waiting for the keystrokes I have entered to appear and catch up with my typing speed!

Upside - less opportunity for coffee stains on my desk, or spilt coffee on the keyboard.

I could just kneel down and grovel, but that wouldnt be appropriate, plus no one would see me do it?
Actually I did just that, but you didnt see me...

I am desperate for a faster PC, and a free i5 processor will certainly help.

Help me de-stress, and get my tasks done quicker.

I'm looking at creating a home theatre PC, and just need to convince the Mrs. This would be the perfect excuse!

How could she argue with "IT'S FATE! I won this competition so that I could improve our lives. God has destined us to have a HTPC" :D

I upgraded my main box to E5200 about 2 years ago. Another upgrade is way over due now. I have the choices between E8400 and i5 750. E8400 would allow me to keep using my P965 mainboard, but I've been considering the new P55 mainboard with SATA3 for future proof, as well as the better performance, more cores, and better power efficiency (both idle and load) from the i5 750.

My main box is my work (from home) PC, my media PC, and my gaming PC. I will be carefully choosing power efficient (again both idle and load), cost effective components for my next upgrade, yet powerful enough to fulfil all my requirement. i5 750 is my top choice for CPU.

I have been administrating a storage server for a while for my fathers business. Currently we run an Intel Celeron with 192MB RAM which provides access to a RAID 5 array with 4x 2TB drives.

Obviously this is the bottleneck for our systems. Unfortunately whilst it's working 'fine' it's not seen as necessary to upgrade, even if the bottleneck is the CPU/RAM.

Something is also wrong with the on-board IDE controller. In order to detect the attached IDE boot drive (booting in to Debian Linux) the box must be warm-rebooted after a cold-start.

As a new CPU would also require a new MB with a updated socket, a replacement for this would greatly benefit me as it would be MUCH less of headache to administrate. Please make my life easy! Stop me having to make bi-weekly trips to the suburbs of Auckland to go on-site and reset/tinker with things.
