Why so many pinned topics in some forums? Its getting a bit overwhelming when you need to scroll nearly to the bottom of the page to locate current topics. 

It seems most of the pinned topics are quite stale. FAQ's are handy, but it seems a bit pointless having (for example) in the android forum a post about the Galaxy S that was last posted in a year ago....
