You can only edit for a short time after the post.

You can only edit posts within one hour after creating it.

This exists for very good reasons.

I don't see why you'd want to come back and edit a post after that time in 99% of instances. It's far more logical to create a new post, if anybody's following the thread they'll at least see a new post.

Imagine if every thread was just two or three individual posts that people kept editing as they wanted to reply to the other person!

First, as explained because you want to ADD to the thread, not edit a post. People already read the post, won't go back to that.

Second because there were cases of people writing something and then after a ten pages replies coming back and updating the post to something completely different, just to hide something said before.

Speaking of editing posts....

Why is it when editing a post the option of "Compose Reply" is right next to "Post Update".
Shouldnt the compose reply button dissapear after you clicked "edit" and then all you need then is either "Post Update" or "Cancel"?

The number of times latley Ive hit "compose reply" (after hitting edit and editing my posts).
I should really learn to read better but to me the button is quite simply not needed and out of place.

just my thoughts !

Thanks !
