Is there a way to report PM abuse? Just had an abusive message, and the person doesn't look like they have posted any messages in the forums. Can't find method to report in the control panel.

For privacy and retaliation, probably not a good idea. That is probably what they are looking for. It is just basically abusive name calling for a comment on the forums, taken out of context.

I assume the admins can pull the IP address of the PM'er and then look at who else came in on that same IP and wield the ban hammer with a suitable amount of vigor! :-)

It just said

"With a sweeping statement like that, I can see immediately that you are a TWAT."

The PM was totally out of the blue for a statement made many months ago, and it could have been made on the forum it referred to. Although name calling is against the TOS, so probably would have been removed at the time.

They were referring to the thread 'Cyclists riding on footpaths - have you nearly hit one?'

No one reacted in that way to any comments I made in that thread.

Calling somebody a TWAT is abuse?

Forward it on to one of the Mods (like Me), or straight to freitasm, and we'll take a look at it.

Well if a stranger told you that on the street for no reason, it would be considered abusive, and I think it is against the TOS of this website to name call. It is different if you know the person and they say it off the cuff in a joking way. A stranger saying it out of the blue is a bit creepy, and you don't know what their motives are for doing that.
I think the person is could be just going through old threads and abusing people via PM's as they have nothing better to do, as they don't appear to be a participating user, due to no threads from them. The thread they commented on it a year old anyway.

But my initial question was whether there was an easy way to report someone, because if they had made it in a normal thread, you can simply press the report button, or it would have been pulled up. But it doesn't appear to be possible if someone makes a PM. And it looks like people can make PM;'s without having previously participated in the forums.
