Folks, I'm thinking we should merge the HTPC and the Home Theatre forums.

Anyone with strong feelings one way or another?

Not strong feelings, but think they're still fairly distinct topics. Can you do subforums? Maybe make HTPC a subform of Home Theater? Home theatre to me is more consumer oriented.

HTPC is effectively only a source so by default it is a subset of home theatre anyway, sounds logical to me

Sorry to be the first dissenting voice but I kind of like them separate. The fact that a HTPC is a source for a home theatre would mean that TiVo freeview and even gaming forums should also be included in the home theatre forum.
What has changed over time I guess is that home theatre components are all much smarter and can do more and as such have encroached on the flexibility that an HTPC has always provided.

personally no objections as to me I feel they are closely related.  Whenever I want to check on HTPC topics I search both the HTPC and Home Theater forums.

I'm a bit old fashioned so I'm interested in TV and audio but I don't really 'get' HTPC.

Having said that it's not really a big deal if they merge as I can skip over threads that don't interest me just as I do in other broad based forums.

I'm struggling to see the point to be honest, as I view them as being so very different.
When it was requested for a dedicated 'show us your home theatre system' thread to be set up, the 'show us your HTPC' thread was re-opened. Which, mainly consists of pictures of peoples computers. Not their amplifiers / speakers / interconnects / projectors / control systems as I would have expected...
I'm with alasta - HT is about video and audio, HTPC is about computer operating systems and TV tuning cards. Whilst there is cross pollination, I don't know if it runs that deep.

I'd probably lean towards separate; the EPG board looks pretty quiet, maybe merge that into one of the others?
