So if I want to comment on a GZ blog I have to register for Disqus now? I can't just be logged into geekzone?

Have moved over Disqus about nine months ago... Imported all comments - you can use a Disqus login or use one of the other options (Twitter, Facebook and Google). The idea is to make comments more "social" and expand it a bit, which I see is a bit different from the forums.

Sharing our interesting opinions with Facebook friends and Google+ circles is a fantastic idea.

I can see why it's good for the website to get it's name out there more, but I'm happy with my silos. I've signed up for Disqus as it doesn't make me integrate with anything else.

Yes, I see what you've done there. You have the option of using a Disqus account and don't follow anyone - which is what I do.
