folks

I haven't been able to get into the chat server for months - i get as far as logging in, and then it stalls at connecting to server.

Is it just me?

Try using an IRC client and connecting directly to to zirc.org servers.

Sure, mIRC works.

Question is why did it stop working via IE, forcing me to download a client?

It doesn't seem to work on vista. I will have a look in the application script parameters, although we haven't changed anything there for ages.

I can only think the java client had a function to call home - and it seems the developer has vanished from the planet... I will look for an alternative, perhaps flash based one?

It's fixed now, with another Java client in use.
