Is anyone else seeing an ad for ANZ bank that pops up using iOS and covers up the bottom quarter of the screen (landscape)?

It's far more intrusive and magically gets in the way of using the buttons on a page

No, I don't have a subscription. Normally quite happy to have ads there, but this one is quite irritating

It's got a close button doesn't it?  Once you close it it won't come back until your next session (i think)

It's not just ANZ.  I am noticing more and more intrusive ads the cover larger parts of the screen.  Yes they have a close button, but that only seems to work the second time around, the first click of the magic "X" in the corner activates the hyperlink to the advert.




Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

ANZ is the only one I am seeing, but I am seeing the same close button behaviour - it just opens the link rather than closing the ad. While the ad is there, responsiveness drops off and it's difficult to get to the reply (and other) button(s).

You could always just subscribe and get rid of the ads that way? It is quick, easy, and makes the site more epic.

Mines not just GZ. There seems to be a new trend of intrusive ads. So much so you can't just ignore them.

Hmmm. I can see an ANZ ad in the list but when I test it there's no overlay - it just shows a button with a word "PUSH" to find out more. When I push it just shows the information inside the banner.

I am blocking it but perhaps the browser is having problems rendering the banner in the proper location?

Had a quick look, but couldn't find that thread - same behaviour though.

Don't know if it makes any difference, but the ad comes up with more than one version of the text as well.

Hmmm. Interesting - since the other thread was posted in Off Topic I didn't see it (I do have the Geekzone subforum in my watch list, but not Off Topic - another example of why people should create topics in right forums).

I see it's only on mobile devices though. I've changed the mobile devices ads to AdSense only and removed the bottom ad. This will solve it.
