We have two copies of spb GPRS Monitor to give away. The software will be given to two randomly choosen readers who register and enter their names in this thread.

On 15th April we'll choose two names from the list of people who replied to the thread. The winners will be contacted via e-mail, so please have this information up to date in your profiles!

Spb GPRS Monitor is a complete solution for measuring the amounts of data transfers via your GPRS, WiFi, CDMA or GSM network connection, and calculating network usage costs. Spb GPRS Monitor watches all data transfers you perform and calculates the cost of your GPRS usage, taking into account your service plan details such as inclusive data amount, data block size. etc.

Spb GPRS Monitor measures your data transfer while you're connected and displays a taskbar icon that gives you the necessary information about the state of your connection: connection speed, current block usage and battery power remaining. When you need more detailed information, you simply tap this icon and get a more detailed report:

  • Amount of data transferred today and its cost;
  • Current GPRS data block usage;
  • Current data connection speed;
  • Suggested daily inclusive;
  • This month's inclusive remaining;
  • Skins (see download link below)

    Like most modern software, the user can give it a "personal" touch. The new version allow the use of skins. We show some examples on the right, for O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone. Users can also create their own style, based on a guide with the format description (downloadable as a .pdf).

    Looks like a fairly neat application. Since in NZ we don't seem to have the unlimited Data options that they have in the US, tracking the amount of data through a GPRS connection would be very useful.

    We have unlimited Data options in the US? They most be hiding them from me here in the mid-west rust zone. All the plans I've looked at or more than what I want to spend per month.
    O Well I'm a home body anyway.

    Ah... OK. I must have been thinking of something else. I thought there was a sprint service or something that provides unlimited cellular data access, but then I don't live in the US, so what would I know ;-)

    It's a nice piece of software. The only thing keeping me away from purchasing it is the fact that the icon is always in the way as there is no "sweet spot" for it in the title bar. I wouldn't mind getting it for free though!

    Cheers,

    Will this work with AT&T GSM/GPRS, my iPaq 5455 and SE T68i phone? This combination works great with bluetooth, but the data charges add up quick, especially with Thunderhawk as my browser.

    here, in Spain, GPRS it's really expensive. You have to be very careful about it. And also you don't have to use it to pay, because they charge you with a "residual traffic" amount every month, no matter if you didn't use it at all.

    Chapter,

    I have a T68i with AT&T also. Are you on the first or second tier for data usage? I'm pretty sure they have some plans that offer A LOT of data. I've only had my phone for about 6 months, so you might check back with them and see if you can get a bigger bucket, if you're going over.

    It indeed looks like a nifty program, and I would love to have a copy for free.

    I bought software with my Ipaq 5450 and t68i on Orange in the UK. It's a great package and updates are regualy available for when service providers alter their GPRS packages.
    I'd certainly love another copy for one of my colleagues.

    I ran the trial version on my Jornada 568 for a few days and it's a slick app. But I didn't immediately buy it because I've temporarily turned off my Verizon Express Network service because I lost the cable that connected my Jornada to my cell phone. Now I'm sort of waiting for Verizon to release a Bluetooth phone so I don't need a cable. Of course, they I'll have to buy a Bluetooth adaptor for my PPC and the new phone.

    I'd like to use the app once I reactivate Express Network.

    This looks like a very useful application for those conecting to many different access points. Since I only connect to a WIFI connection at home it would probably be overkill for me, but I would like to know how my bandwidth was being effected.

    It looks really useful. Would be even better if I didnt have to pay for it :)
