Is it just me or do I detect a bit of aggravation going on here at Geekzone? (eg I'm sick of Telecom bringing out...) Plus one or two I read last week. There are a few tempers flairing...

There has been a little. We jump on it quite quickly.

We also cop a lot of flack for it sometimes, but we would rather ban users who cant have civil or intelligent conversations, and know that our forums is pretty much one of the cleanest, tidiest ones around...

It seems many people say things here that they absolutely wouldn't dream of saying face to face with people, they also dont read previous threads, nor search for their topic before posting, and so many people display a total disregard for the guidelines (and commonsense in general).

Those who have been here a while will also see this sort of carry on wax and wane, with the gaps between the cycle shortening incrementally each time.

Another thing is that you see one post, but we gt a collection of posts, and over time trollish behaviour starts to accumulate. People complain, and we take action.

As Tony said we ensure this is one the cleaniest forum around. That's one of the reasons why Geekzone is the #15 New Zealand site.

I think occassionally people do jump to conclusions and so may sound more heavy-handed than necessary, but on the whole I think the moderators do a fine job of keeping the discussions useful and interesting (and display great patience with amateurs like me).  Anyway, controlled 'aggro' is good: it shows people care.

Anyway, it's not 15th in my estimation...  And it's sad to think the nasties are coming more frequently, but thanks for your replies!

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Hmmm. If you look at Technology only then Geekzone is #1 in New Zealand by total visitors. Below are the stats for October 2007 for all New Zealand sites tracked by Nielsen//NetRatings - this is only to the 22nd since the month has not finished yet. Note that I have removed the numbers, but this list is by Unique Browsers:
