If I add people as friends on GZ does change anything? Ie website features, profile access.

You can see your friends' activities around the site - the frontpage has a short summary, the wall page has a complete list and your public profile page will show your own recent activity (only to yourself, not public).

Before I used the "Friends" feature, it was like my life was stuck in second gear - like it hadn't been my day, my week, my month, or even my year.
