So I've been getting this error recently:

Server Error

406 - Client browser does not accept the MIME type of the requested page.
The page you are looking for cannot be opened by your browser because it has a file name extension that your browser does not accept.

Most recent this URL:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=50&topicid=175499

Usually after a couple of hours or a few attempts the error goes away.

As usual the error is gone.

Chrome mobile standard release on 5.0.1. Logged in to geekzone.

Edit: ok I got it first time i hit 'post new topic' for .this new topic but it worked the second time.

Edit: also seen for post update

Your post either contains unacceptable content - a script of iframe, or the IP address was blocked because was used by a robot before.

Both of you are using a proxy to reduce size. This proxy has been used by bad people before.

Agree entirelywith gzt and dm2000 -  the error happens randomly and started last night when I was using the iPad(Chrome 43.0.2357.61)  Last night most posts came up with error, much more random today.  Does not happen with Chrome on a Win8.1 or Win7 machine.  I know nought about the technical jargon being bandied around - this happens when trying to view posts, but is entirely at the whim of the post...

I have removed a Google IP address from the block list. Some bad people have been using that before you folks.

I noticed it was this after another forum that I visit also had issues with Google Chrome Data Compression (specifically their IP Geo Flags was showing up as USA instead of their native)

Ah bugger. I thought I had that turned off. Maybe that was on desktop or it was added with an update.

Yes, everyone talking about this problem here was showing with a USA! USA! flag to me...

It works some/many times I'm guessing not all of those proxies/exits are blocked. Yet. ; )

Are we talking Chrome/settings/band width/on or off? Have to confess never been in there but noticed it turned on presumably by default. Turned off and problem solved on iPad. Thanks guys

Yep that's the issue. Should be off unless you're on 3G/4G and your data plan is limited.

Called "Data Saver" in Chrome main on my Android platform.

Needs a whitelist ; ).

Blocking will be an interesting problem for google. Maybe they are thinking so much traffic will originate you can't afford to block eventually.
