I just posted in the forum: Pawism

I copied and pasted some information from the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary containing the word "p*ssy"(you know, slang for a cat), and I got the reject button pushed on me because the post contained rude words.

Understandable I suppose, but it took me a while to track down the forbidden word due to the context.

Is there a list of words that cannot be used in Geekzone forums?

Difficult to post words in a forum that aren't allowed in the forum I suppose - d'oh!!

There is a short list, and it goes like this:

bad_words = array("newmilitia","poo","bitch","f u c k","f**k","fuck","cunt","pussy","shit","wanker","whore"," ass ","asshole")

There is also a list of bad URL mainly ones used by spammers trying to sell (non-existent) mobile phones, and the list includes some special features of their posts - have you noticed how we used to get a few every week, and now we barely get one a month?

And yes, also have you noticed I managed to post the words?

Pardon the question if the answer's plain obvious, but what's so rude about 1st and 2nd words on the list? The 2nd word's considered childish by some, and the 1st I don't even understand. The rest I get. What if I was talking about my donkey, and I wanted to use the ~ass word?

If a word is in the list there's a reason - someone used it in a manner that shouldn't be - for example the "newmilitia" is a reference to a series of posts from some nut that thought that posting spam on Geekzone would be a great way to promote his extremists views and how New Zealand should react to that - by linking to a site with the word "newmilitia" in it.

You have just posted the word "ass" there, you noticed? It's not that bad a filter, is it?

For the amount of "bad" words in the world today, that's an incredibly short list.... somehow the word box is a terrible word too for some people, it's amazing the imagination some people have!

I agree, my wife considers the phrase: "The Wharehouse" pretty obscene, and has been known to break out in a rash.

Try saying "OneCare" quickly with a British accent...
