Imo an answer should be complete and relate directly to the FP and not cause confusion.

The 'show answer' function shows only the first post and the answer. Therefore these should be a match.

Any thoughts?

I think gzt is asking those marking posts as an answer, to consider whether someone only reading the OP and any marked answer(s) in any given topic would have enough info without reading any other replies.  If not, it is probably not worth marking a post as the answer.

If that's the case I agree. And the community can help - any trusted user or user with a minimum number of posts can set or reset the Answer. Or perhaps complement the answer in another reply and set that one too.
