Don't know if this has to do with the other changes being made here, but this morning I received an email notification of a private message. When I checked, though, there was nothing there, just old messages already read, with the most recent dated 25 November.

If someone sends you a message you get a notification. If the message is deleted by the sender before you read it there will be nothing unread in the queue.

It always worked like this.

Oh, also this morning we had someone send spam via PM to some users. The account was banned so that will also hide messages.
