As per subject, I thought it would be interesting to see which forums I have visited most in recent days, so I decided to add this to the forum list as well, as a shortcut, so people don't have to scroll down the list to reach the ones they visit most.

The list currently does not include private or subscriber forums.

Obviously my list will be different from your list.

Is the number of forums the same for everyone?

Yes, the top seven. I was thinking of five, but seven seems a good number. Open to suggestions.

Cool feature. My top 7 largely looks like I'd expect:

Home Workshop
Vodafone New Zealand
Off topic
Startups
Planes, trains and automobiles
Bargains and Deals
New Zealand Broadband (including UFB)

Only one that was surprising is that the planes, trains and autos was 5. I would have expected lower.

Obviously this list change every day as it's a total visited in the last seven days (actually calculated as prior seven days to the second the page is loaded). I thought of doing 30 - 180 days but this would be too much and change too slowly. Seven days is more related to immediate interests.

Mine are

  • Off Topic
  • Vodafone New Zealand
  • IT Pros
  • Geekzone
  • Android
  • Microsoft Windows
  • New Zealand Broadband

Would it be difficult to be able to set the number of forums per user (in your preferences)? That way it could be set up like your go-to list of forums when you visit... Have (say) seven as the default, but be able to override it.

Difficult? Not. But I'd have to add this preference to the account page (read/update) and cache (read/update). This requires a bit more testing than just a query to make sure it doesn't break anything else (oh and zero could be used to disable the list).

It must only poll from visits to the full website, not the mobile site. I only have two favourite forums... neither of which I visit regularly.

My suggestion would be 14 days, I may have looked at different stuff than usual this week.

I usually just find threads from the "Discussions" bar at the right of the home page

Does "visited" mean one clicked on a forum as well as read a topic in that forum? Sometimes one may look at a forum and decide not to read any topics as none may be of interest, perhaps that should not be counted as a visit? I like the list as it is easy to visit favourite forums without scrolling through them all.

Currently, yes. But depending on feedback I can easily change to only list discussions.

Maybe you should add "Your" Most visited forums (last seven days) in case some new people get confused.

Useful feature - agree change of head to read "Your most..." may be more intuitive and retain just visits to partic forums rather than subposts

The default is now five but you can now go to your profile page and change to anything from 0 to 7 - zero will just hide that section.
