so therefore I can't insert a link. (see screenshot.)
I use Noscript. There are a very large number of websites wanting to run scripts on this forum. Could the blocking of one or more of those be the reason? If so, which one?
Why is it not possible to upload an image from the computer to this forum?

Oh God, what've I done to it now??

You have to highlight text before you can hyperlink it.

Geekzone offers image hosting for subscribers only. You can use Flickr, Google Pages, or other hosting services to host pictures, and display them here.

What about the large number of sites running scripts, here? Why so many? (feedburner, googlesyndication, imrworldwide, exponential, mybloglog, google analytics, statcounter.)

The scripts add various functionality.

Choosing to block them might increase your safety, but its all a tradeoff in usability.

You could choose never to drive down narrow streets, on motorways, or through tunnels, but in return you must accept that your journey may take a very different route, and some journeys may not be available.... thats my take on it anyway.

The first three are advertising, the last two are analytics information so we know how many people visited the site, ho mnay pages, where they are coming from - things that help us run Geekzone.

We can't run a site this large without information.

I don't understand why people block scripts. Really.... It means you miss a lot of functionality offered around the web.

AH. Functionality. Motorways. Excellent.
And here was me thinking it was to do with feeding the sponsors.
[E] (x-posted) I block them by default, and unblock those required when I land on the site I intended to. Most of those don't have many scripts to unblock.
Ever driven down a narrow street on the way home from a party and found yourself in the wrong 'hood?

Oh God, what've I done to it now??

One day there may be a blue envelope slipped under your door. Open it, follow the instructions, and tell no one.

You do not choose Geekzone.

Geekzone chooses you.
