I was just reading a post on quotes and it reminded me of a few recent times where we ended up with a mass of nested quotes.

I find I am sometimes guilty of this when replying from my phone, is it possible for responses using quotes from a mobile device to strip out the quotes and leave only the latest quote?

I am a member of a forum that has this in place and seems to work well, you can over ride this when needed but for the most part. Maybe it is worth considering.

The way I see it if one is replying to the latest reply in a thread there shouldn't need a quote.

I don't understand why GZ seems to re-invent the wheel over and over when it comes to basic forum functionality. There are mature software solutions for all of the minor niggles users find with the forum here: automatically hiding (or at least making expandable) entire multiple quotations trains except the final one, BBCode that Just Works™, image tags that don't fail 50% of the time, automatically converting YouTube URLs to video embed, and so on...

Problem is when another reply happens while you are typing you look like you're answering someone else doing that.

But again there is a solution.  Most forum software will show you any reply posted while you were typing.
