I few times I have clicked a link on Geekzone and it turns out to be a pdf.

On my mobile platform, and many others, that's a download. That can be annoying when it is a large file and downloads at high speed.

Some sites provide a clue by inserting something like [PDF] after the link. I wonder if this is an easy thing for Geekzone to provide.

+1, but my reason is there's no way I'll download a PDF from anyone unless I went looking for a particular PDF.
