Hello,

I would just like to say that I dont want to create a big stink about this but would like to see if anyone has an opinion on this.

I am a developer in my spare time and sell a few Windows Mobile titles on various mobile software portals. The other night while my wife was reading a sales stamentent from Handango she asked if I knew that they were now taking 50% of my revenue from each sale. I couldnt recall seeing anything about this (they change their agreement so often that I dont always read it) so this news was a surpirse to me.

Im not sure if anyone else deals with them but this seems to be a bit of a low blow to small developers out there. Ive noticed a few comments in this regard online but this seems to have slipped quitely under the radar.

It just seems to me that Handango are taking a whole lot for not much. Even their so called "support" now consists of forwarding me emails for simple things like customers entering the incorrect owner name during their purchase.

I see the Geekzone/Handango store link (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/store) seems to be a bit harder to locate nowadays but perhaps thats for a totally unrelated reason.

Regards

Trevor

Ths is an interesting question. Handango has not been a "nice" partner for developers for years now. Their fee structures is just too high.

Is it harder to find the Handango Geekzone Store link? Yes, it is. We are in the process of moving it to another provider. Stay tuned.

I hear Apple take 30%, which I thought was slightly high but still reasonable for a developer not to have to worry about billing and distribution etc.

50% is just taking the proverbial.

Our new Geekzone Software Store for mobile devices is up and running now, powered by Mobihand. All links to the store are redirecting to the new one, except for direct links in product pages - which we will be updating in the future.

Note we are offering a 20% discount on mobile software as an introduction offer - but we can create our own promotions and discounts, so I will be working on arranging a permanent discount for Geekzone users.
