So for the past week or so I get this error "Network Protocol Error" every so often.  It SEEMS to be limited to FireFox on a work laptop, but wondered if it was just me, or it's more widespread?

I get this at work (behind Untangle and with PiHole) as well as at work.  Since it's a work laptop I don't have much control over it.  It makes no difference if I am logged into geekzone or not.  Here's an image:

Hmmm. Does your work laptop have anything that inspects content of https traffic? My guess is something like this causing problems. Or using TLS 1.0 which is blocked.

Not that I know of, and it's only on geekzone; I can use sites like internet banking and Trademe over HTTPS fine.  I DO have Ghostery running in FireFox, but I cannot see how that would affect traffic???

Regardless of anything else, please don't use Ghostery.

In Geekzone, or in general?  What does it do?  Does it matter if I am a subscriber or not? Or is this a different area than ad blocking?

Ghostery is run and owned by an ad company. It tracks you across the internet.

Only use uBlock Origin with the default list if you must. Blocks trackers also.

If you want privacy then Ghostery is not the way to go.

I did not know what, now feel stupid.  I will remove it ASAP.  That should also stop the Network errors.

FYI I use Epic as my browser at home, I should probably use that at work instead of Firefox.

I am not sure the error is related to Ghostery. I just wouldn’t use it in general.

I get this error message every now and then too .... not adblockers etc being used, BUT if I hover the cursor over the hyperlink for a second or two, then click, it goes straight to the Forum message.  I brought this up a few months ago ... can't locate it right now.

Weird huh?
