I had a bit of a search around, but I couldn't see if anything has been suggested before along this lines, so apologies if I missed it.

Instead of blocking all common "bad words", is a find-and-replace filter a viable option? Not exactly ground-breaking stuff, but might spice up everyday conversation and improve UX.

Most of us that want to swear for emphasis know how to work-around the fookin' thing, so why not try something that might get a bit of a laugh from people? I have been on other forums where they replace something like 'asshat' with 'rear-end-in-a-top-hat'. Even randomize it with a pool of words so, say sh!t could be replaced by excrement, a-brown-pants-moment, Ja-Rules'-latest-album etc

I can understand there are still some phrases that need blocking though (I must admit, "newm!litia" is a new one on me haha). Although we could replace certain racially-insulting phrases with 'I-am-a-bad-person-and-I-should-feel-bad' or 'hurr-durr-different-bad' haha
