I'd like to be able to go to the previous and next pages through a single key press, rather than having to use the mouse to click "Prev" or "Next" - is this functionality available anywhere? Maybe by using the left and right arrow keys, for example.
I've had a quick look through the forums, but haven't found anything helpful.
If it is not available, could it be enabled somehow?

That standard browser shortcut works fine for pages I've already been to, but not to new pages. Given the size of the Covid-19 discussion page, for example, it would be nice to be able to use a keyboard shortcut to advance through the discussion without having to use the mouse.

That's for browser navigation though, right?  I think the OP wanted to navigate the "pages" in a discussion thread.

It's possible (but painful) to tab through the elements, then trigger the paging.  the Next link does have a rel attribute set to "next" - so if there is a browser that ties that to "next", then that would do the trick...

Ah, but it does. The pages have rel="next" and rel="prev" for years.

So (dumb question maybe), how do I make this work...?

You don't. These tags are used to let search engines know a sequence of documents, more for SEO than anything else. They are not for navigation. And even so, Google removed support for this but didn't tell anyone.

OK, thanks for the information. I've run into a collection of pages that assign specific keys to go back and forward in the logical chain, and I was hoping that this was the case, but so be it... 😞

If a thread is multiple pages, then could you simply hit "single page", on the original post then simply use the down arrow to scroll down?

When a thread is 300+ pages long that isn't practical

correct, tried that for a laugh last night, 4.6gb of ram later and it took over 90 seconds for the page to load, it was then very slow scrolling up and down.

I've removed the signatures from Single Page view. Still slow but using half of the memory you mentioned. It's good for a ten-page thread but it wasn't ever created for a 300+ page discussion.
