Gee... well behind the times here ....

JUST noticed the email notifications from followed posts/threads have a dynamic from email address. Up until somewhere between Aug and Oct 2018 emails came from forum@geekzone.co.nz, but since then emails seem to come from forum[postnumber]@geekzone.co.nz.

Its a fantastic idea as it allowed email threading to work better.

Had a very quick look over this forum group, but could not see anything suggesting the change so just had to fill everyone in ;-D

Also, did you go back almost two years of emails to find out when it changed?

freitasm:

Quick answer yes... all my GZ email moves into its own folder after 30 days, in turn there was a rule deleting just email from forum@ after 90 days. The folder just got to 4 gig so I bothered to look into it.
Sorry assumed the other topic totally related to gmail only rather than outbound in general when I skimmed the topics.

The messages do now seems to attract a higher spam score with the thread numbers in the from address (possible random/temporary email address rule), but not enough to trigger their tagging as a whole.

I guess it was not possible to whitelist the forum@ email address with your inline smtp server to help with delivery ?

I monitor our DMARC reports and also use Google Postmaster tools - spam rates are pretty much 0% as we have a hard fail for SPF/DKIM sets - that helps a lot.

I think using the individual topic notification address makes it easier to stop something amiss...
