Sometimes I see posts, especially from new users, that seem worthy of more attention than they are getting. So I may make a reply just to push them back to the top of the home page before they disappear. Are there any others who do this?

Like this? 😀
But no, I don't often specifically do that.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Yup...if they are of interest

You're imposing your views of important topics on the rest of us.
If the majority thought it to be of some importance or usefulness, there would be no need for bumping
So inactive topic : the majority dont care , so dont bump it.

That is a valid point but I perceive it differently. Not everyone notices every post right away and some may never get noticed if they disappear from the Home page. I feel like I am just saying 'hey, this looks interesting, you might want to take a look at it.'
If not, no harm done; it will disappear soon anyway.

No. Sometimes I may have something to add or an alternate suggestion, but bumping posts is only a consequence of replying, never an objective.
I would actually like an option not to bump posts. E.g. When you follow-up something days or weeks later, and just want to acknowledge the assistance of those who contributed to the discussion.
Nope

i read posts soly via the "new forum posts" link, if the topic title doesn't grab me then im not going to read it regardless of if you bump it or not.

Ha ha. I was talking about giving it a second chance, not keeping it going forever.

it will get a second chance if it deserves it, and someone whose generally interested in it posts in it, not because you think it should, even though you may have no interest in the topic.
the more interesting question would be how many people browse from the home page vs forum by forum vs new posts link.

I don't do it often, and I don't do it if I have no interest in it. I do tend to only browse from the home page except for topics I have subscribed to. Occasionally I see something that interests me, but that I don't have anything to contribute other than just to say it interests me.

I never use the home page, I always go into each forum that I'm interested in and look to see what threads have new messages.
No I don’t.
But I do use the “Discussions>>” on the rh side of the GZ homepage. So threads with titles that don’t describe their subject, such as “Help, Please!” don’t get a second glance from me. This is partly because there is no indication of what area of tech knowledge the question pertains to (and is something I think the home page could benefit from). So I’m not going to waste my time even clicking on it.
Edit; This thread describes what it is about, hence my response.
