i've just installed syncmal plugin into jpilot, and i've had a look at what avantgo channels are available.
there's almost nothing in NZ

Is there someway to get geekzone news and forums into avantgo on my palm?

Like many other requests, I would have to put this in a queue. I'm not sure if Avantgo is still charging publishers to create channels.

You can always create a custom channel, but it will not be well formatted.

How long till the new version of the site?
i hope you're redoing the layout - less tables more css - and making more PDA friendly.
(need a hand? i'd be keen to help out with making this site friendlier to small screen/small bandwidth)

During the last few months I put lots of effort in migrating the database to Microsoft SQL Server, making sure a few bugs were fixed (auto-login for all pages, auto-login when posting in forums, so users won't lose their input if session timeout occurs, login on Pocket Internet Explorer), removing some redundant code, etc.

I think it worked ok. For example Geekzone is in two frontpage articles on Slashdot today, and this did not affect the response time! We served a few hundred thousand pages in the last 24 hours and everything seems to be going well.

I'd like to use more CSS. But I'm currently working in another two projects. One is to add more features to mywedding. Another is to release a new site, using the same Geekzone database but on another area (all there, but without the forums). The new site should be out during the week of 10 Jan 05 (or sometime around this).

My next project would be Geekzone v2, which would be a .Net version. I'd like to use more CSS then. Who knows what happens?

All comments welcome - either here or by e-mail.

Ah, and in the last week I've added Timezone code so users can select what timezone they're in, and the system will show articles date and time stamp based on that parameter. Also all dates are now in DD-MMM-YYYY format so to have no confusion between UK and US date formats.

I have a staging Windows Server 2003 where I run the test sites. I'll probably have something there soon. When ready for testing I'll approach some people...
