Hello folks

Our Geekzone Blog now supports the Metaweblog API for offline blog posting. It means you can use such tools as Windows Live Writer, Microsoft Word - or any other tool of your preference that supports the Metaweblog API.

When configuring the tool you should enter your Geekzone username and password, pointing the configuraton to https://metaweblog.geekzone.co.nz or https://metaweblog.geekzone.co.nz/MetaWebLog.axd.

You will be able to enter text, change fonts, upload images automatically and more (depending on what your tool supports).

Once again thanks to Phil at RedJungle for coming up with an excellent solution for us.

Just a side note, and I think it's a Windows Live Writer issue, my recent blog post, it changed all the cents symbol (¢) to a question mark.

I just setup Live Write to work with the Geekzone bloging system.

Here are a few images to help you go through the process.

First select the service.

Then the blog account details.

Next the blog type

And lastly select your blog.

Once that's all done your ready to post.
The only other setting was to select in Live Writer the blog post category and your ready to start publishing.

Thanks to all who made this possible.

Just so you know, a Microsoft team has released Open Live Writer

This is an open source version of the Windows Live Writer, a great blogging tool that is now deprecated (last updated by Microsoft in 2012).

You can use Open Live Writer on Geekzone blogs and a ton of other platforms too.

Saw that today, excited to see what improvements they can make.

Live Writer is great software, but could be oh so much better.

Was going to ask about iOS apps, and the image upload service (since the app I tried had them separate) - but I tried a quick test post and it seems to go.

I used a free app called mweb. Looks like, as a platform, metaweblog didn't really take off
