I recently changed from using the Geekzone web interface to post to my Geekzone blog to using Windows Live Writer (Metaweblog API).  I am using the standard Geekzone blog template with no modification whatsoever.

When I used the web interface the profile information was displayed nicely to the right of my blog posts.  Since I started using Windows Live Writer the profile information seems to have wrapped itself down to the bottom of the page (check it out here - http://www.geekzone.co.nz/ald).

Its got to be something to do with using Windows Live Writer, not just because of the timing but because if you open one of the previous posts using the permalink the profile is displayed on the right of the post but if you open one of the new posts via its permalink the profile is mashed into the article at the bottom.

It looks pretty rubbish so I'm keen to get to the bottom of it but haven't had any luck.  Anyone else using Windows Live Writer and had this problem?  Would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this!

Best regards,
Aaron Davidson.

Have you changed the default design in any way?

Phil (www.redjungle.com) and I are planning on creating a new default design soon.

Hi Mauricio, no, haven't changed a thing. Left everything in the configuration as I found it but I did add in profile information. It looks to me as if what Live Writer is posting is somehow wider than what was being posted via the web interface and that maybe this additional text width has caused the profile box to wrap down to the bottom.

Aaron Davidson.

Or just some div tags? You can use Firefox and Firebug to check the positioning...

HTML issue.  You will have a rogue tag somewhere that's not closed properly, hence why your blog doesn't look quite right.

Go through all your posts and it'll be something simple, it always is.

Not the posts - the tags on Live Writer should be ok and had no problems before. I guess is some that on the sidebars.

Can you please edit the post and remove the Technorati tags?

Hi Mauricio, thanks for the tip. I've removed the technorati tags but it doesn't appear to have sorted out the problem. Given that the old posts look fine when you look at them only I figure it must be something to do with the posts that I've done this week using Live Writer. I'll start looking at the html for the first of those posts and see if anything comes up.

Any further suggestions welcome however!

Best regards,
Aaron Davidson.

I think I saw a DIV tag just before the Technorati tags. That's why I asked to remove those. Open Live Writer and check the HTML for the last DIV tag and see if it's closed.

Hi guys, have removed the Technorati tags and had a careful look at the html using firebug.  My html isn't the hottest but I'm pretty sure that the <Div> tags all have</Div>.

If you look just at a single post, my latest - http://www.geekzone.co.nz/ald/7172.  The innerrighttable is positioned exactly where it should be horizontally (to the right of maintable) but is way out vertically.  Instead of being positioned at the top alongside maintable, it is instead starting immediately following maintable.

Where is vertical positioning of innerrighttable dealt with?

Aaron Davidson.
