Is anyone here interested in writing a Geekzone Gadget for live.com (sample gallery here?

Also, I need some help with Regular Expressions (regex). I have a simple one to create (four or five rules only).

Scroll down for some ideas...

Wooow!

Re: Regex. Go on hit me with it. I'm always up for a challenge. Or am I to late?
You could make it a competition to see who could come up with the most refined expression.
I knew I should have bought that O'Reilly book on mastering Regex. :-)

I needed a very simple expression, but I ended up changing the rules, so no need for the regex at all at the end.

But if you are up to the challenge - write a live.com widget...

Looks interesting.

May have a closer look at it when I get a few other things out of the way.

You might want to look at this blog entry to get started with Microsoft Gadgets...

Ok, now that all the rush for the holiday is gone, I have something to post here about the Geekzone Gadget(s).

I am interested in having some Geekzone Gadgets usable on live.com and on Microsoft Windows Vista Sidebar (when released).

Anything using Geekzone data is ok, but I have a couple of suggestions I would like to see implemented first:

  • A Geekzone Forums Gadget: populate a drop down list based on a XML response containing our forums, and then populate a list based on another XML response with the latest posts based on the selected item on the drop down list;

  • A Geekzone My Forums Gadget: populate a list with the latest posts/replies in discussions where the user has initiated or participated before (this will require user name and password).

  • A Geekzone News Gadget: populate a drop down list based on a XML response containing out categories and subscategories list, and then populate a list based on another XML response with the latest posts based on the selected item on the drop down list;

    These are just some examples - feel free to suggest something you think could be cool and work well with our database...
