What happened before is that our smtp server was identifying itself to other servers as "geekzone" instead of "geekzone.co.nz". Some other servers didn't like it, so we created a new server in the DNS "mail.geekzone.co.nz" and our smtp server now sends out this FQDN on request.

This solved most of the problems with had with non-delivery. Notice that we have correct SPF records in place as well.

If your server doesn't like it may be that it's dropping the connection. Nothing much else we can do from this side.

If you are with Compass - call their support as I have had several dropped emails to compass customers, their server(s) are playing up.
