Is it a Plugin/Design used and made elsewhere or a completely inhouse (MF and redjungle) designed and built solution. I am having an argument with a friend who claims that it is a pre designed plugin but i have a feeling that it is inhouse.

Look forward to your reply.

Tom

It's a in-house, total complete custom forum design.

Geekzone is 100% inhouse design. With the exception of the HTML editor AFAIK.

Can your friend provide an example where he thinks this solution is used elsewhere, or who is selling it?

It started as a third party application but with time it has changed into a completely different app.

Why the question?

See OP - Thanks for the reply. My friend just didn't believe people would make their own forums. What was the original Third party application?

If freitasm told you, we would have to kill you.  Mods only get told after a secret pledging meeting in a dark dungeon underneath the ICONZ datacentre....

Oh darn I am in Christchurch so ICONZ is no good for me. What about the basement of the Kaiapoi High School auditorium? ;-) Or a PM is fine?

There are plenty of good reasons for writing your own version any any software. You want control, you want to do things differently and so on.

There are plenty of different forums, blog and CMS software packages and many many custom/bespoke ones.

http://www.yetanotherforum.net/ is pretty decent if you're looking for an open source .NET / SQL Server based forum software.
