This is going to be a little vague. :)

I read geekzone via RSS feeds, using google reader.

Now and then when I click on the rss link to read the full posting, I get taken to the geekzone front page instead.

It happens once or twice every one or two days.

I use google reader to monitor 50 or so feeds, and geekzone is the only site it happens on.

I have not yet noticed a pattern (as I usually forget about it until it happens again), but I will try and see it is anything like the first visit for the day.

Anyone else experiencing a similar problem?

It has been happening for months, and is just a minor irritation more than a problem.

My understanding is that it is due to the thread being deleted. eg, http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=64371 which was created and deleted recently. Showed up in the rss feed as Title:"Oops please delete!", Text:"."

Hmm, maybe it is that. It has not happened again since I first posted.

Just happened now, for the first time since I last posted.

The URL I clicked on was http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=64&topicid=66382

I ended up at http://www.geekzone.co.nz

Weird!

Oh, when I clicked on it a second time (the same link, in the same window of the rss feed browser) I was taken to the correct page.

It looks like Google takes a couple of minutes between creating the short URL and actually making it active. A bit annoying but they offer no option to use our own...
