I am posting this because I am planning to remove the option to send a link via SMS from out content pages.

We know there's a person, based in Italy, who is sending those messages as a prank. We have contacted his ISP, and as would be expected from some providers, nothing happened.

The options to limit the service by imposing a "24 hour period after registration before you can use the SMS" or "Post 5 times on the forum before you can use the SMS" would also remove the "instant gratification" of someone finding an interesting article and sending the link.

We believe that many would use e-mail instead.

How many of you have used it this feature?

well i used to use it but not anymore... i guess as mobile email is getting popular, there is no real reason to use msg-via-sms... so i'm okay with removing this SMS service :-D

scrub it, I've used it twice. very neato idea at the time but I think SMS is getting quite tired now. I hardly would see anyone using it more than once. there always Gmail now!

Ditch it...

If I want to tell someone about something, I generally copy and paste a link into an email...

There's an sms option?

Guess you can count that as me having not used it.
