People want to be "in the circle". And yes, probably they search on Google and find that someone got invites here or there and join just for that. I'd say 95% of these will never come back...

Its not really the best thing when people come to a place GZ just to take and not actually contribute. I first found GZ on google when i had an issue with my nokia 6225, i came back a couple of times and eventually signed up. Now i reckon i spend more time in a day browsing the site than actually doing work, its the first thing i do when i get on my pc each and the last thing i do at night and a million times in between.

Hopefully some of the people who are just here for the invites find its a great place to 'hang out' and add something to it

I think you'll find with any established community that there will be leechers. Can't really avoid them short of making them jump through flaming hoops backwards.

Seen it on other sites that offered/discussed gmail invites, free VOIP calls to PSTN, free SMS, ahem warez etc...

I'm sorry to say that I'm with you on that one Brad - I feel like I'm addicted sometimes.

Is there a geekzoners anon meeting that we could go to?

Not that I am aware off - but we will have the Geekzone Dinner 2006 later in September or October.

And believe it or not, there are other users with more accesses to the site than me!

Good on you! As you may have noticed by this thread, a lot of people just collect the invites and run away...
