A problem that I seem to get every now and then has happened again.  Last nite I read GZ but when I got to work  and logging in to GZ i saw the post from last nite as new again. Tonite when I get home and login again I see all post from all of today as new items. Three pages of them.  This is the only online forum I see this happening on..

Using Opera 10.70 Build 9049.

Regards,

Old3eyes

What do you mean by login?
Do you actually close your session, ie 'log out'? Or do you have 'keep me logged in' enabled, so your session is not changing?

Logout and login again. See what happens. We haven't changed anything in the session management code for months now.

I noticed it as well yesterday - was showing me posts from 2 days ago as being "new" when I had already read/replied to them - dosent seem to be doing it now though, I didnt log out, just put up with it.

Also, are you using Geekzone Live? Because it constantly refreshes it means the sessions never expire, even if you turn auto-login off.

Yeah I agree the code needs to be revisited.

There are issues when accessing it from 2 sessions that are auto login enabled at 2 locations e.g. home and work.

Maybe tie it to an IP address or similar so when you alternate between the 2 its detected

I mentioned this in the live thread also.

Yeah I get this all the time too, especially between my work laptop, home PC, and iPad. For example, I've just dropped into GZ on my iPad, 25 hours after last being on here on my work laptop, and i have 8 pages of unread posts!

I have requested a couple of times now that new post flags be tied to your username, and are only reset by you manually clincking a button to reset (as is standard practice with most other forums), but have been told this is too complex to set up on GZ unfortunately.

I'd also like this functionality so I could just pop into GZ to read something quickly without having the new post flags auto reset. At the moment I have to read all new posts on each visit if I don't want to miss something. Oh well, maybe one day... :-)
