I've noticed tonight Geekzone has been lagging on a link some thing like "psn.eu.playstation.com"....which I assume is trying to serve an ad.

I'm a subscriber, so I don't see the ad anyway.....yet I have to wait for that site to respond so I can't see it. :-)

I wonder if these links can be turned off in some way for subscribers so access is speeded up.  Seems a waste all round to suck data in from a 'slow / busy / far away' server and make me wait for an ad that I'm not ever going to see anyway.

I think it might be Twitter, but I know what you mean - posts taking about a minute to load.

The image is actually the fail whale

If you are a subscriber you don't even get the ad codes - just look at the source to confirm.

I am using Vodafone, it's been fine for every other site.

Either it's Twitter having a fail moment or it seems on mine it keeps waiting for "images.geekzone.co.nz" - but it is indeed running really slow (taking 1-2mins to load posts)

Twitter is fine on the actual site, so might just be their API bugging up a bit, or possibly something else. I haven't really traced it back too far but this is just what I see in front of me. Like I say I was getting the Fail Whale image loading up in the Twitter Retweet placeholders and it appears Geekzone was just waiting for these.
