Before I get booted for my last 'smart' comment, I think it would be 100% cool to have a gmail/facebook live chat feature.

Not hard to get booted from here - not with all the less than desirable corporate conflicts at play. Like Vodafone's stranglehold over these forums and how anything anti-Vodafone gets immediately removed.

Talk about lack of full disclosure.

lol... seems to be a bit bonkers for different industry players here. I've yet to see moderation in action, so it can't be that bad...

isn't irc what you use for live chat?

O'RLY?

That's a nice change of tune, we are usually accused of being pro-Telecom.

What you will find is we simply enforce the FUG, in this case mainly the bit about respecting companies and their presence here. There is no conspiracy between GZ and VF, again most argue quite the opposite.

No more on this here as it is bound to spiral out of control, back on the topic as per the thread title.

What the??

I come here cause I choose to no other reason. I am not paid by Vodafone NZ for posting and providing support (wish I was)

I don't hide the fact I have worked for Vodafone NZ for 10+ years

I have also provided support for Telecom NZ and 2Degrees customers. Have a look over the threads

You sure? Seems to be paranoia inducing, causing disorientation and confusion and not result in very mellow ;)

Must be that new legal stuff Kronic.

Back on topic, I'd say the one to one chat option, as mentioned above group chat can be done via GZ IRC channel

I think you are mistaking Geekzone with another forum. We don't remove anything anti-Vodafone, or anything anti any other company, unless it contains personal attacks. Just go through our Vodafone forum and you will see this.

As Scott said this is a refreshing change, because we are always being accused of being paid by Telecom. This accusation was even made by Vodafone employees, some time ago when I posted a series of blogs showing how Vodafone was promoting their 3G network covering 97% of population (work, live, play) giving away devices that actually worked only on parts of that 3G network (didn't have 900 MHz on the device).

That blog post generated lots of comments by the then Head of Communications, and a few people accusing me of being paid to write against Vodafone. Guess what? Those comments were posted by Vodafone employees, on Vodafone time, from Vodafone's internal network, through their corporate proxy.

Of course I banned those people, and perhaps that's where this stupid idea that we are anti-Vodafone comes from.

Do you want full disclosure? I will give you full disclosure, even though you can't handle full disclosure yourself... For the last two years we didn't run Vodafone advertising on Geekzone because the ad agency tells us their client sees Geekzone as anti-Vodafone. This comment was even made this last week.

Now, for your "less than desirable corporate conflicts at play" we'd be pretty dumb to be doing what you accused us of, even though we clearly have not reaped any benefits in this relationship you imagined.

Not sure if this would work.  Geekzone already has a dedicated IRC channel that is being used less and less these days.

Yeah i never use IRC, but would use one and one chat. Plenty of times i have had a discussion using the forums which would have been way easier using one to one chat.

IRC can be used as 1-1... create own channel and lock it :) Or use /msg.... a "Facebook" type chat system is something I personally never use, prefer IRC, but I might just be considered "old school" (as well as ancient and many other things).

And since the IRC channel is already there.....
