What a great chat tonight. Sorry I wasnt there for the end guys, got sidetracked with my iPhono bluetooth stereo headset - I havent used bluetooth on my PC for a while and needed some help setting it up. By the time I got it working an hour or more had passed.

Mauricio pointed me to this thread which was exactly what i needed to get my DSE CSR-based bluetooth dongle working under XP SP2.

MP3 audio sucks on mono through stereo headphones though!

Present at tonights chat were:

Jaffa
Theresa Gattung
chiefie
cokemaster
alasta
jpwise
nokiarocks
freitasm
bradstewart
sbiddle
JAMMAN2110
Hadders
k700i
tonyhughes

and we talked about:

unbundling
voip
spam
storage media
handycams
rdp
vnc
cars
IRC

and lots more.

The attitudes in chat are a lot more relaxed than here on the boards, with plenty of banter to make things enjoyable. There is also the facility in our chat to see users webcams, which can be a bit fun. One user tonight had a dodgy cam that put a red cast on his pic, and made him look like he was a crew member on a Russian sub...

We had one user come in and seek help on their Sony handset, but waited only a minute or so before leaving, potentially missing out on a fellow chatter researching an answer for them. Stick around longer next time :-)

To all those in attendance, thanks! Week 3 and the numbers present are already on the increase. It would be nice to hit 15 concurrent users next week.

If any of our non-NZ Geekzoners want to get in on the act, but the time is not suitable, why not suggest a time that is good for you? Plenty of Geekzoners pull allnighters now and again, and it would be cool to catch up and chat realtime.

While I was fixing my Bluetooth setup, some of the chatters were in a free Skype conference call. Im all set up now, so can chat next time if im back in Hawkes Bay (im off up to Hamilton on Thursday for possibly a week of work).

We also caught up breifly with freitasm's lovely partner whom graced us with her presence on camera once or twice, and caught a glimpse of mine on the webcam in the background watching TV.

A couple of attempts were made at setting a topic for the chat, but it was generally a fast paced conversation, and flowed from one topic to another quite quickly as the talk forked, and grabbed interest.

See you at the next one! Tuesday 23rd May 8pm NZST.

Great summary, good stuff. As Tony said, thank you everyone who participated tonight, and we hope to see you again, and new faces too.

You forgot to mention the beer discussion where we had a couple of comments on "imported" beers made in Auckland (Stella Artois comes to mind) and actual imported beers.

Also the mention of a possible redesign on Geekzone (more on this later).

You don't have to register on Geekzone or Userplane (although it's a good idea), so just join us on this live chat next Tuesday. If you want, enter a recurring item in your calendar!

I found it very positive though my attendance was poor due to someone coming around for dinner.

That and the issue that I was having where text I'd type would not appear in the room (but other messages from other people were) until I refreshed the page. I'd safely say that this is out of GZ's control.
