Getting the geekzone ad-blocking message top and bottom of page. First time I have seen it - I guess it is new?

"Blocking ads impacts in our revenue, as well as break some functionality including search. Please consider adding Geekzone to your white list or a Geekzone subscription"

I'm using the latest Chrome (16.0.912.63), on Vista x86.

I have only one extension installed - AVG SafeSearch. Enable and disable makes no difference, but I have yet to try a browser restart.

Is the software actually blocking ads?

freitasm: Are you actually blocking ads?

Not at all. I can see the google ad sidebar, an animated toyota ad, a visa ad, the geekzone jobs ad..

If you disable the AVG add-on does the message disappear?

I got that message too, now Geekzone is the only site that doesn't have ads blocked.  Geekzone is a great site and doesn't seem to have cliques like other forums and provides a wealth of information, so be nice and unblock the ads. :)

I'm not blocking ads at all.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Tried a browser restart, no difference. I'll try removing the AVG extension entirely.

Mods, feel free to edit the subject line adding "- but not blocking ads" or something ;  ).

It appears the ISP was presenting the gzt with a *VERY OLD* version of the scripts used to show the message.

As I said in my Twitter, transparent proxies and caches are the plague in New Zealand Internet. ISPs should have better pipes or at least be intelligent on how they manage those things.

On a similar note, using Firefox 9.01 on the http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp page, I get a "Firefox prevented this page automatically redirecting to another page" error across the top. Turning on ad-blocking stops this message, but brings up the yellow message bar instead (obviously!).

Please use developer tools to find out WHERE it would be redirecting. I test with Firefox here every day and haven't seen this message. It could be some problem with the ad scripts by Google DFP (which cause the back button to stop working on Firefox).

Clicking the allow button triggers an HTTP GET to google.com and an HTTPS GET to googleads.g.doubleclick.net but there is no obvious change to the display of the actual page. Sorry, HTML is far from my strong point...
