Hi

can some nice person at WXC , Check to see what plan I am on. I am suppose to be on flood with 5gb. But I checked
my router and the max attainable speed was something like 2575 and up was 576. I will give the help desk a ring

Looking on the XNet homepage I can see there was 2 scheduled Telecom outages this morning to "rearrange" things. One was in the central North Island, the other was in Blockhouse Bay. This morning at about 7:30 when I wanted to check e-mail my connection was down, it has not happened to me in the month that I've been with XNet. I rebooted my modem and then it was connected to the DNS server but still no internet. About 2 minutes later it came right, which is much longer than what my modem normally takes to reconnect. I suppose these things are related. My connection to the exchange has suddenly gone up from about 5Mbps to 6Mbps (but I'm on the basic, dripping plan

)

If your problem is related, I am sure XNet will sort it out. Also, it is handy to know that at the top of the XNet homepage you can click on the nework status messages and get a complete list of current events.

An upload speed of 576 indicates your are on "flood", otherwise this would be about 160 (for a 128k up). As for your download speed, this is either distance from exchange, or a fault on the line causing ADSL degradation, or maybe the DSLAM has a slow link from Telecom, so they cap that speed.
