Just got a WAG54GP2 to replace a PAP2T, in order to get better quality calls on a busy home network. But have had a few problems with it. First off customer services can’t see it (gave them the mac address etc). Called twice in the last few days to sort it but still no joy. So calls are still going through the PAP2T. Also the device has locked up a couple of times. If you unplug the power sometimes it forgets the settings. Is this what you expect to get with a Linksys product? Or have got a dud?

I take it that you have ditched your old modem and replaced it with WAG54GP2?

No, you shouldn't be experiencing any of those problems.  It sounds like you have got a a faulty unit.

Assuming it was new when you got it, I would suggest returning it to the supplier for a warranty replacement.

Yes the old modem was replaced. Yes the unit is only a week old. Back it goes. Inconvenient for me as I have given the old modem away.

What firmware version is running on the Wag? there have been a number of updates since release so this might be worth trying.. if your vfx settings get setup it should update the firmware for you..

Also if you could PM me your details I will investigate as to why your Wag is unable to take over from your pap2t..

Cheers

Josh

All good thanks. That's what mine are running on. Another to install next week and just wanted to see if the firmware listed by Linksys was the same as you've been using. Cheers

I have been told to re-enter the provisioning link into the wag(to try and pickup your configuration file). What is this link and how do i enter it. I need the phone to work on the WAG54GP2 as it no longer works on my PAP2T.

Hi Andrew,

The provisioning link is:

http://58.28.20.69/configs/default/default$MA.cfg

you need to enter this in the provisioning area.. login as admin.. then advanced.. you will see the provisioning tab.. click on that tab..
then enter under profile rule.. the above link..

scroll down.. click on submit changes.. wait for the device to accept the changes.. then you may need to restart your device..

Cheers

Josh

Normally the help desk would not have to tell you this.  When you sign up for VFX you get all this info in an e-mail.  It is something you enter once, and when entered correctly then that part of the config is locked and you should never have to do it again except when replacing the unit.

So it is not like a modem where you can accidentally change settings and in which case a help desk would need to be able to tell you this.

I told them it is a NEW device but already had VFX on a PAP2T.I needed to change to phone to the NEW device. So if the NEW device needed to have somthing set up on it they should have bloody well told me!!!! I'm i expected to mind read? Where on the xnet web site does it tell me to do this? Where is my set up email then? Come on if it was not for the help from Josh here i would have spent another two hours on hold trying to get it sorted when on the first call that info would have had me up and running in minutes. No wonder the help desk is so busy!!!
