I could not send or receive text messages near Wellington train station this morning. 1035 to 1047. Seems to be working now though. Weird small outage.
Posting as if it's unplanned Vodafone might like to be able to investigate.

Worth posting about could not SMS for 12 minutes, Did you call civil defence and the national guard?
John
Edit: admit was a sarcastic reply

I think if someone deems it worthy of posting, it is worthy of posting.

Why did you even respond? The OP clearly indicated that it was an unexpected outage. Really disappointed.

It could of been a planned outage on a single site! This happens quite often during the day sites are taken down
Site could of been reset due to issues noticed by the NOC, Sites are alarmed up to the eyeballs and can also perform a soft reset if required
I doubt it was NZ wide or related to the SMS platform/s, If it was an ongoing issue then it would warrant further investigation
The train station area in Wellington would be covered by multiple cells

timmmay: I'd expect planned outages to be noted on the service status page, which I checked before posting. My post means if it was unplanned and automation didn't detect it Vodafone gets some information.
It's usually reliable, which is why a short outage is noted.
Not correct
Planned short outages on single sites are not notified work, A planned upgrade that is going to take the site off line for many hours to 1 to 2 days would be posted on the community / Status page
Sites are taken off line for short outages all the time, Far more often than you think when you have well over 1600 sites covering NZ
John
Linux,
You are defending the indefensible. Your original response was rude and sarcastic.

Yes it was sarcastic and I apologise for that, My point was that outages happen all the time impacting customers nothing is 100% uptime
John
If the initial reply from a former Vodafone engineer had been a bit more constructive this thread would've gone nowhere. e.g. "Short outages are fairly common while maintenance is done, there aren't usually notified as they're so short". Thanks for the information in your later posts.
@freitasm might be time to lock this thread.
